On Thursday, the benchmark indices were trading in red with Sensex down around 105 points or 0.15% at 63,047 and the Nifty trading down by 36 points or 0.19% at 18,691. About 1,465 shares have advanced, 1,989 declined, and 129 are unchanged on the BSE.

Top gainers and losers on BSE Sensex are as follows:

The top Sensex gainers were NTPC Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Power Grid Corporation of India whereas the top Sensex losers were Mahindra & Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd.   

The BSE Utilities Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and BSE Bankex Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Utilities Index soared 1.25%, led by NTPC Ltd and Power Grid Corporation of India while the BSE Realty Index was down 1.36% dragged down by DLF Ltd and Macrotech Developers Ltd.

The indices in the broader markets were trading lower, with the BSE Mid-cap index down 0.62% and the BSE Small-cap index down 0.30%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Yes Bank Ltd and Ajanta Pharma Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd and EKI Energy Services Ltd.

In the pre-opening session, these 3 stocks were trending: RattanIndia Power Ltd, Brightcom Group Ltd and EKI Energy Services Ltd.
