As per the news reports, the Maharashtra government has announced that all beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana must complete the e-KYC process within 2 months to continue receiving the monthly ₹1,500 assistance. This move aims to remove ineligible claimants and improve transparency.
As per the government resolution issued on September 19, 2025, all women aged 21 to 65 who are part of the Ladki Bahin scheme must complete their e-KYC on the official portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in.
The verification must be completed within 2 months to ensure uninterrupted disbursement of the ₹1,500 monthly assistance into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Annual family income of eligible applicants must not exceed ₹2,50,000.
The move comes following the discovery of 26.34 lakh ineligible beneficiaries, including men, who had registered for the scheme.
By making Aadhaar-based verification mandatory, the government seeks to eliminate fraudulent claims and ensure that funds reach only eligible women. Those failing to complete the e-KYC process within the deadline risk having their monthly payments withheld.
The government has also mandated that e-KYC validation should now be an annual exercise. This will maintain updated records and reduce the risk of recurring fraudulent enrolments, thereby securing efficient management of state welfare funds going forward.

According to Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, successful completion of e-KYC can also prove beneficial for accessing other state government assistance schemes in future. This initiative is projected to streamline digital inclusion across welfare schemes in Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra government’s decision to enforce e-KYC for Ladki Bahin Yojana is a significant step toward boosting transparency and ensuring rightful recipients get the intended ₹1,500 monthly support. With a strict deadline in place and a mandate for a yearly update, this reform promises a more efficient distribution of benefits.
