Wipro, is likely to lose a major outsourcing contract with US cosmetics company Estée Lauder, with most of the work expected to shift to Accenture, according to The LiveMint report.
The agreement, valued at about $500 million over 5 years, was signed during the tenure of former Wipro chief executive Thierry Delaporte.
The contract covered technology services including application development and maintenance as well as infrastructure management.
The outsourcing agreement is set to conclude this year. Based on its overall value, the contract contributed roughly $100 million in annual revenue to Wipro during the 5-year period.
According to the report, close to 90% of the work linked to the project will move to Accenture. Details of the new arrangement, including its value and duration, were not immediately available.
The contract had been considered a large account within Wipro’s portfolio because of its size and multi-year structure. Such deals typically include long-term service delivery covering application support, infrastructure operations and ongoing system management.
For technology service providers, these contracts provide predictable revenue over several years and often involve large teams handling enterprise IT operations for global companies.
The development comes at a time when Wipro is seeking to stabilise growth after a period of muted demand in the global outsourcing sector.
Chief executive Srini Pallia has previously indicated that clients remain cautious with discretionary technology spending while finalising their annual budgets. Many companies have instead prioritised projects focused on reducing operational costs.
Industry demand has largely centred on vendor consolidation, cost optimisation programmes and the use of artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency.

As of March 4, 2026, 10:47 am, Wipro share price was trading at ₹195.31, a 1.64% decrease from the previous closing price.
If the shift proceeds as expected, Wipro could face an annual revenue impact of up to $100 million linked to the Estée Lauder account. The company would need to offset the gap through new contracts as competition among global IT service providers continues to intensify.
