PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited has introduced a new pension-linked offering, the Pension Dividend Leaders Index Fund, under its Smart Invest Pension Plan Pro.
The product combines a unit-linked investment component with a life insurance cover, where a death benefit is payable subject to continued premium payments.
The New Fund Offer (NFO) is open from 1 April to 19 April. Units are priced at an initial Net Asset Value (NAV) of ₹10, with the first NAV scheduled for declaration on 20 April.
The fund follows a passive investment approach and tracks the BSE 500 Dividend Leaders 50 Index. This index selects 50 companies from the broader BSE 500 universe based on their history of dividend payments.
The portfolio includes stocks across large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap segments. The structure is rule-based, with no active stock selection involved in portfolio construction.
The fund focuses on companies with relatively stable earnings and consistent cash flows, reflected in their dividend track record. Dividends received are reinvested within the fund rather than distributed, allowing returns to accumulate over time.
This reinvestment approach is intended to support long-term growth through compounding, particularly in the context of retirement-oriented investing.
The fund is available through the insurer’s digital platforms and via online insurance marketplace Policybazaar.
It is positioned within a unit-linked pension plan, offering policyholders exposure to equity markets alongside an insurance element.
The launch comes against a backdrop of a rising ageing population in India. Company estimates indicate that the number of individuals aged above 60 could exceed 230 million by 2036, increasing the need for structured retirement savings options.
