The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Kundli has been chosen by the Ministry of Minority Affairs to implement the PM VIKAS scheme, marking a significant step in strengthening skill development initiatives for minority communities.

Key Development

An MoU formalising the institute’s role as a Project Implementing Agency was signed in New Delhi on December 22, 2025.

Under the scheme, NIFTEM Kundli will deliver structured, need-based skill training programmes aimed at improving employability and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth from minority groups.

The institute is among a limited number of Institutes of National Importance selected for this role.

Programme Details

As part of the project, NIFTEM Kundli will train 2,110 beneficiaries across three skill categories: Multi Skill Technician (Food Processing), Millet Products Processor, and Assistant Baking Technician.

Training will be conducted across seven centres located in Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana. The initiative is designed not only to enhance technical skills but also to provide market exposure and credit linkages to help beneficiaries integrate into the formal economy.

Implementation Framework

The training programmes will be aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework and delivered through courses approved by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training.

Successful participants will receive certification from institutions recognised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and eligible candidates will be supported with placements in wage employment, self-employment, or apprenticeship roles, including opportunities within organised sectors.
