As per Indian Express report, the Bihar government has announced it will not pursue the recovery of ₹10,000 mistakenly credited to 470 men under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.
This decision follows the accidental disbursement of funds intended for women beneficiaries.
Since its launch, the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana has aimed to empower women by transferring ₹10,000 to eligible female beneficiaries. However, an error led to 470 differently-abled men receiving the funds. Bihar Jeevika CEO, Himanshu Pandey, attributed this to a "gross error" in the implementation process.
The scheme, which requires beneficiaries to be part of the Bihar government's Jeevika Self-Help Groups, has successfully reached 1.51 crore women. Despite the mistake, the majority of funds were correctly allocated to women.
The Bihar government has clarified that it will not enforce the return of the funds from the men who received them.
Instead, the government is offering an option to adjust the amount against eligible women applicants from the recipients' families. This approach aims to rectify the error without causing undue hardship.

As per PTI report, in Darbhanga district, officials faced difficulties in recovering the funds as many recipients had already spent the money on festivals and livestock. Notices were issued to some beneficiaries, but the government has since decided against coercive recovery measures.
Bihar Rural Development Minister Sharwan Kumar has requested a detailed report on the transfers to address the issue.
The Bihar government's decision not to recover the mistakenly disbursed funds under the Mahila Rojgar Yojana reflects an understanding of the challenges faced by recipients. The focus remains on ensuring the scheme benefits the intended female beneficiaries.
