
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a 3% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for its state government employees, both working and retired, effective from May 2026.
The decision, announced by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, will see government employees receive 58% DA in their upcoming salaries due in May.
On March 2, 2026, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav used his official platform to announce that the DA for state government employees had been increased by 3%.
From May 2026 onwards, employees will receive 58% DA in their salaries. The arrears from July 2025 to March 2026 will be disbursed in 6 instalments starting that month.
Pensioners have not been left out; they will also receive 58% DA from January to February 2026.
This move is aimed at providing additional financial support to pensioners, reflecting the government's commitment to extending financial assistance all employees, including retired ones.
The government decision is part of a broader initiative under the Kisan Kalyan Varsh, as mentioned by Chief Minister Yadav.
Several important decisions for employee welfare and pensioners were made at a cabinet meeting in Barwani on March 2, 2026.
The timing coincides with Holi, providing an additional festive cheer for many government employees and pensioners alike.

Notably, this decision comes shortly after the Maharashtra government increased the DA for its state employees by 3%, setting it at 58%.
For Maharashtra, the increased DA is effective from July 2025, with initial arrear payments for July to October 2025 scheduled for March 2026.
