The Government has extended the deadline for submitting fresh applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles to March 31, 2026. The Ministry of Textiles confirmed that the online application portal will remain open until the end of the current financial year.

Earlier, the last date for new applications was December 31, 2025. The deadline has now been pushed back by three months, giving textile companies additional time to complete the application process.

Extension Linked to Application Flow

The ministry stated that the decision was taken after receiving a continued response from textile firms since the portal was reopened in August 2025. Several companies submitted proposals during this period, leading to a review of the earlier timeline.

Reports noted that the extended window would allow applicants more time to meet eligibility conditions and submit required documentation under the scheme.

Overview of the Textile PLI Scheme

The textile PLI scheme was launched in September 2021 with a total financial outlay of ₹10,683 crore. It is limited to specific segments of the industry, including man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textiles.

These segments were selected as part of plans to increase domestic manufacturing capacity in value-added textile products and reduce reliance on imports.

Eligibility and Incentive Structure

Under the scheme, incentives are based on incremental turnover generated over a defined base year. Companies are required to make minimum investments and achieve prescribed sales thresholds during the scheme period to qualify for incentives.

Both existing manufacturers and new entrants that meet the eligibility criteria are allowed to apply through the designated online portal.

Revised Timeline for Applicants

With the latest extension, eligible companies can submit fresh applications up to March 31, 2026. The ministry indicated that the extension applies only to new applications and does not alter the scheme’s structure or incentive terms.

Applicants are required to ensure compliance with investment, turnover, and documentation requirements before submission.

Conclusion

The deadline extension keeps the textile PLI application window open through the end of the financial year, providing additional time for eligible companies to apply under the existing framework.
