
Government-backed startup support programmes continued to scale up over the past 5 years, with multiple schemes channelising funding, credit support and incentives across technology, mobility and deep-tech sectors, according to disclosures made in Parliament.
Minister of State for IT Jitin Prasada informed Parliament that ₹93.75 crore has been disbursed to 241 startups under MeitY’s Startup Accelerator for Product Innovation, Development, and Growth over the last 5
years. MeitY partners with accelerators to provide incubation support and matching funding of up to ₹40 lakh per startup, while accelerators receive ₹2 lakh per startup. So far, 43 accelerators have been onboarded, incubating 373 technology ventures.
The scheme targets 300 startups across healthtech, edtech, agritech, consumer tech, fintech, SaaS, and sustainability, following 186 expressions of interest and accelerator selection across 16 states, with annual monitoring by the MeitY Startup Hub.
In a separate reply, the minister said India had 2.07 lakh DPIIT-registered startups as of December 2025, with 99,687 entities having at least 1 woman director or partner.
The Fund of Funds for Startups facilitated investments worth ₹4,271.6 crore in 2025, up from ₹2,809 crore in the previous year, and has channelled ₹20,837.2 crore into investment vehicles since 2021 after being set up in 2016.
The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme infused ₹109.4 crore into selected incubators in 2025, taking cumulative funding to nearly ₹591 crore since 2021, against a total outlay of ₹945 crore launched in April 2021.
Meanwhile, the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups disbursed loans worth ₹206.3 crore in 2025, with cumulative credit of ₹808 crore extended since 2023.
Parliament was informed that India has 399 DPIIT-registered space technology startups, including 7 that have launched satellites, 20 that have launched payloads, and 2 undertaking sub-orbital launches.
Nearly ₹700 crore has been allocated under the National Quantum Mission to set up thematic hubs for quantum computing, communication, sensing, and materials research.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries reimbursed ₹1,177.24 crore to electric two-wheeler manufacturers under the PM E-DRIVE initiative between March 1, 2024, and January 27, 2026, while electric three-wheeler makers received ₹674.72 crore.

The parliamentary disclosures underline the scale of government-backed funding, credit and incentive programmes spanning startups, deep technology and electric mobility, with disbursements running into several thousand crore rupees across multiple schemes.
