As per news report, the recent hike in CNG prices in Delhi-NCR, increasing by ₹2 per kilogram, is creating ripples across transport sectors, impacting everyday commutes and operations for many.

Details of the CNG Price Hike

The CNG price hike affects several cities within the Delhi-NCR region, including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.

As a result, those relying on CNG for their vehicles will now pay more, leading to increased operational costs for autos, cabs, and private vehicles.

This price adjustment comes on the heels of a ₹3 per litre increase in petrol and diesel prices nationwide. The cause has been attributed to disruptions in the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Effective Friday, the price of CNG has increased by Rs 2 per kg. The new CNG rate in Delhi is Rs 79.09 per kg, as per IANS news reports.

Impact on Fuel Costs and Economy

Fuel costs are crucial as they directly affect the transportation of goods and people. The increase in CNG prices, alongside petrol and diesel hikes, can lead to a rise in operational costs for businesses and potentially affect the inflation rate due to higher logistics and supply chain expenses.

The revised petrol prices in the national capital stand at ₹97.7 per litre, whereas diesel is priced at ₹99.67. These represent the first changes since a reduction in April 2022, primarily driven by recent spikes in international oil prices.

Reasons Behind the Fuel Price Hike

International tensions, particularly between Iran and America, have driven oil prices upward significantly, with over a 50% increase observed.

Despite previous measures to stabilise costs, recent global developments have necessitated these adjustments.

The government reassures citizens of stable fuel availability, urging against panic buying and advising reliance on official communications for updates.

Conclusion

The increase in CNG and other fuel prices in the Delhi-NCR region reflects the impact of global tensions on local markets. As transportation costs rise, it remains crucial for consumers and businesses to strategically manage resources amidst these changes.
