On Tuesday, the benchmark indices were trading in the green with the Sensex up around 109 points or 0.15% at 71,840 while the Nifty-50 up around 48 points or 0.22% at 21,820. About 2,145 shares have advanced, 1,445 declined and 165 are unchanged on the BSE.
Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index are as follows:
The top Sensex gainers were Wipro Ltd, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Bharti Airtel Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were IndusInd Bank, ITC Ltd and Power Grid Corporation Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading higher, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.58% and the BSE Small-cap index up 0.92%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Indian Overseas Bank and Torrent Power Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were Xchanging Solutions Ltd and Triveni Turbine Ltd.
The BSE Teck Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Power Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Teck Index soared 1.6% led by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and HCL Technologies Ltd while the BSE Power Index was down 0.80% dragged down by NTPC Ltd and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.
