The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO) 2025-26 till December 31, offering more time to property taxpayers. The scheme, originally set to end on September 30, now includes a 2% late fee on principal tax for payments made from October 1 to year-end.
On September 26, 2025, MCD announced an extension to the SUNIYO 2025-26 property tax amnesty scheme, allowing taxpayers until December 31 to settle dues. While the scheme's core terms remain unchanged, those paying between October 1 and December 31 will incur a 2% late fee on the principal amount. This move aims to encourage more property owners to regularise their tax status while still generating additional revenue for the civic body.
Since its launch on June 1, the SUNIYO scheme has attracted 1,16,000 taxpayers, translating into revenue of ₹370.27 crore. Among them, 65,874 new property owners made their first tax payment, contributing ₹187.8 crore. This indicates a strong push toward widening the tax base while recovering pending dues.

For the financial year 2025-26, MCD has collected ₹2,111.63 crore in property taxes from 11,63,000 taxpayers. This represents a 22.5% growth in total revenue and an 18% increase in the number of taxpayers compared to the same time last year. The SUNIYO scheme has played a critical role in achieving these figures through compliance and outreach.
With the SUNIYO 2025-26 scheme extended till December 31, MCD has provided a longer window for property owners to settle tax dues. The additional 2% late fee from October 1 serves as both a deterrent and a source of extra income, helping the MCD boost both compliance and collections in the process.
