Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) emerged as the clear outperformer within the Reliance group in 2025. The stock gained around 27% during the year, making it the sixth best-performing stock on the BSE Sensex. The rally was driven by strong investor optimism across its businesses, especially telecom, retail, and new energy.
Reliance Industries share price performance was driven upwards by several long-term triggers in 2025. The company has a diversified business model, and operates across different sectors like energy, telecom, retail, and digital services. This reduces dependence on any single segment.
Furthermore, expectations of a Reliance Jio Platforms IPO in 2026 have driven the stock upwards.
While Reliance Industries delivered strong returns, most other listed Reliance group companies failed to keep pace in 2025.
This divergence shows that investor confidence was clearly concentrated around the parent company rather than its listed subsidiaries.
Reliance Industries continues to invest heavily across businesses. Near-term capital expenditure remains elevated due to the 5G rollout, planned petrochemical capacity expansion, and investments in renewable energy and new energy projects. Retail expansion and strategic acquisitions are also part of the group’s long-term growth roadmap.
Over the long run, growth from telecom, retail, petrochemicals, and clean energy is expected to support revenue and earnings expansion, keeping RIL at the centre of investor focus.
In comparison, other large business groups saw mixed results. While some Adani group stocks posted strong gains, overall wealth creation within the Reliance group in 2025 was driven almost entirely by Reliance Industries itself.

In 2025, Reliance Industries stood out as the star performer within the Reliance group, delivering strong stock returns and significantly boosting Mukesh Ambani’s wealth. However, most other Reliance group stocks underperformed, highlighting a clear preference among investors for the parent company’s scale, diversification, and long-term growth visibility.
