
NTPC Green Energy Limited has announced the commercial operation of the seventh part capacity of its Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat. A capacity of 243.66 MW has been declared commercially operational with effect from 00:00 hours on December 17, 2025.
The project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy.
The Khavda-I Solar PV Project has a total planned capacity of 1,255 MW and is one of the key renewable energy initiatives undertaken by the NTPC Green Energy group.
The project is strategically located in Gujarat, a state that has emerged as a major hub for large-scale solar power development in India. The phased commissioning approach allows timely capacity additions while maintaining execution efficiency.
With the declaration of commercial operation of this 243.66 MW tranche, the current commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited group now stands at 7,645.675 MW. Following this addition, the total installed capacity of the NGEL group has increased to 7,889.335 MW, reflecting steady progress toward its renewable energy expansion goals.
The capacity addition strengthens NTPC Green Energy’s position in India’s clean energy transition and aligns with national targets for renewable energy deployment. It also supports the broader objective of reducing carbon intensity and enhancing energy security through sustainable power generation.
On December 17, 2025, NTPC Green Energy share price opened at ₹90.50, touching the day’s low at ₹89.75, as of 11:44 AM on the NSE.
