Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is strengthening its manufacturing capabilities with the establishment of 2 new facilities as part of its ongoing expansion strategy aligned with rising defence requirements.
The company is setting up 2 additional production units at Ibrahimpatnam in Telangana and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
These facilities are expected to be inaugurated soon, with production scheduled to commence during FY27.
The expansion is aimed at meeting increasing requirements of the Indian armed forces while enhancing operational efficiency and broadening the company’s product portfolio.
The Telangana facility at Ibrahimpatnam will feature eight assembly lines designed to support next-generation weapon systems and future demand.
It will also include specialised testing infrastructure such as rocket motor testing and warhead penetration testing capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Jhansi unit, located in the Uttar Pradesh defence corridor, will focus on the production of propellants.
It will also enable bulk manufacturing of rockets and support in-house research and development of advanced energetics.
The expansion aligns with BDL’s strong order book, currently valued at around ₹26,000 crore. In addition, the company expects further order inflows of approximately ₹15,000 crore during FY27, indicating sustained demand visibility.
The new facilities are expected to play a key role in executing this pipeline efficiently while supporting long-term growth in the defence manufacturing segment.
