
Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML) has announced a significant investment of ₹160 crore to establish a lactogypsum processing plant at Kumbhi, Uttar Pradesh.
This initiative is part of the company's strategy to enhance value creation from by-products of its Polylactic Acid (PLA) project.
The proposed facility will focus on manufacturing gypsum boards using lactogypsum, a by-product of BCML's upcoming PLA project.
With a production capacity of approximately 76 lakh gypsum boards per annum, the plant is expected to commence commercial production by December 2027. This move underscores BCML's commitment to sustainable and integrated operations.
To support this expansion, BCML's board has approved a preferential issue of equity shares aggregating to approximately ₹450 crore, subject to shareholders' approval. Promoters will participate with a 43% stake in this fund raise.
Additionally, the board has authorised the issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) up to ₹200 crore, enhancing financial flexibility for future growth opportunities.

BCML has revised the capital expenditure for its PLA project to approximately ₹3,080 crore, reflecting updated project requirements and cost escalations. This adjustment aligns with the company's integrated business model and growth strategy.
Balrampur Chini Mills Limited is one of India's largest integrated sugar companies, with allied businesses in distillery operations and power cogeneration. Operating 10 sugar factories across Uttar Pradesh, BCML boasts an aggregate crushing capacity of 80,000 TCD, distillery operations of 1,050 KLPD, and power cogeneration capacity of 175.7 MW (saleable).
