Flipkart, in collaboration with global fintech company Pine Labs, has introduced the Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card, a digital prepaid card for public transport payments in India. As per the news reports, the card can be used on metros, buses, and other systems that accept the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).
The card is to reduce waiting times at ticket kiosks, eliminate recharge delays, and streamline payments for daily commuters. With daily metro ridership reaching 10.2 million in January 2025, according to the Economic Survey 2025, faster payment methods are increasingly needed.
The card is priced at ₹50, is reloadable, non-KYC, and NCMC-enabled. Users can load funds up to ₹2,000 offline. Balances can be checked or recharged through the Bharat Yatra Card app, UPI apps, Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS), or at metro payment counters.
The companion app allows multiple cards to be linked for better tracking and management. Physical cards can be purchased through the Flipkart app, including the quick-commerce platform Flipkart Minutes. Activation and fund loading are available via the UPI QR code on the card or through the app, which is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
As per the news reports, B Amrish Rau, CEO of Pine Labs, said, “The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a step towards a unified, inclusive, and frictionless mobility payment experience for Indians."
Gaurav Arora, Vice President, Flipkart Payments, added, “Our collaboration with Pine Labs combines Flipkart’s reach with their technology expertise to deliver a consumer-first transit payment solution."
