ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has unveiled 2 innovative investment strategies under the Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) framework.

Opening from May 19 to June 2, 2026, these new fund offers reflect a strategic move positioned between traditional mutual funds and alternate investments.

The New Long-Short Strategies Explained

The iSIF Active Asset Allocator Long-Short Fund is designed as an interval investment strategy, dynamically balancing investments across equities, debt, commodity derivatives, and InvITs.

It may take limited short exposure via derivatives, with a potential derivatives exposure of up to 100% and unhedged short positions at 25% of net assets.

Benchmarking against a mix of 50% Nifty 500 TRI, 40% Nifty Composite Debt Index, 7% domestic gold, and 3% domestic silver, this fund seeks a balanced portfolio.

iSIF Equity Long-Short Fund Details

Aimed at open-ended equity strategies, the iSIF Equity Long-Short Fund invests in listed equities and associated instruments.

It offers flexible opportunities across varying market capitalisations, sectors, and investment styles, with potential foreign investment up to 35% in equity-related instruments.

The fund is benchmarked to the Nifty 500 TRI, reinforcing its equity focus.

Investment Requirements and Management Team

Both strategies mandate a minimum investment of ₹10,00,000 for first-time SIF investors, whereas existing investors can start at ₹10,000.

Managed by experienced teams, the iSIF Active Asset Allocator involves Ihab Dalwai, Sharmila D'silva, Masoomi Jhurmrvala, Manish Banthia, Akhil Kakkar, and Gaurav Chikne.

The iSIF Equity Long-Short Fund is managed by Mittul Kalawadia, Nitya Mishra, and Sri Sharma.

Risk Considerations and Strategy Rationale

While these pioneering strategies aim to capitalise on market shifts, they inherently carry higher risks, including potential capital loss and market volatility. ICICI Prudential stresses the necessity for dynamic, flexible allocations amidst market variability.

The announcement of these funds underscores the fund house's commitment to offering cutting-edge investment solutions that adapt to fast-changing market conditions.

Conclusion

ICICI Prudential's introduction of iSIF Active Asset Allocator Long-Short and iSIF Equity Long-Short Funds reflects a discerning step towards offering diverse investment options. With robust management teams and strategic benchmarks, these funds are crafted to navigate complex market environments.
