
Real estate stocks continued their upward trend on Tuesday, with the realty index rising 3% during intraday trade and becoming the top sectoral gainer. This comes after strong operational updates from Oberoi Realty.
So far in April, the realty index has rebounded by 24%. However, in 2026 overall, the sector is still down about 8%, compared to a 6% decline in the benchmark market index. The sector is also trading about 23% below its 52-week high.
Several real estate stocks gained around 3-4% during the session, including Sobha, Godrej Properties, Phoenix Mills, Anant Raj, Lodha Developers, Oberoi Realty, and Aditya Birla Real Estate. Many of these stocks have rebounded up to 37% from their March lows.
Oberoi Realty reported strong sales numbers for the March quarter.
The company also secured 3 new project developments in Mumbai and acquired a key land parcel near Bandra.

Lower-margin developers such as Sobha may feel more pressure from rising costs.
Real estate is considered a “high-beta” sector because home buying is discretionary. During economic uncertainty, investor sentiment often swings sharply, making the sector more volatile than others.
The sharp April rally in realty stocks is driven by strong sales, visible project pipelines and attractive valuations after a correction.
