Adani Group is planning to invest about ₹1.8 trillion in defence manufacturing in the coming year, as per PTI reports.
The proposed spending is expected to be spread across equipment production, technology development and supporting infrastructure linked to India’s defence sector.
In 2025, Adani Defence & Aerospace shifted from longer development schedules to shorter deployment timelines. Some of the company’s defence equipment was used during Operation Sindoor, marking a faster induction of systems into service.
The company plans to direct a large part of the investment towards unmanned and autonomous systems, guided weapons, sensors and electronics.
Spending is also expected on artificial intelligence-based operational systems and on expanding maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and training facilities.
Autonomous systems are to operate with limited human input using sensors, software and secure communication networks. In the air, unmanned aerial vehicles are used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, communications support and long-duration monitoring.
At sea, unmanned surface and underwater vehicles are deployed for maritime surveillance, mine detection and anti-submarine tasks. On land, unmanned ground vehicles are used for logistics support, reconnaissance, explosive ordnance disposal and perimeter security.
Adani Defence & Aerospace has manufacturing and service operations covering unmanned aerial and underwater platforms, counter-drone systems, guided weapons, loitering munitions, small arms, ammunition and aircraft maintenance.
During 2025, the company’s Drishti 10 unmanned aerial vehicles were inducted into the Indian Navy and the Indian Army for long-endurance surveillance roles. Its counter-drone systems completed trials conducted by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Agnikaa loitering munitions met endurance and electronic warfare requirements, while the ARKA MANPADS shoulder-fired missile system reached tri-service deployment readiness within shorter timelines.
The integration of Air Works and Indamer created a combined civil and defence MRO platform. The acquisition of the Flight Simulation Technique Centre added pilot and engineering training capacity. Reports suggest that the company has also entered the airborne warning and control systems segment.
