As per the PTI report, Eternal Ltd has introduced a new parental leave policy that extends beyond traditional post-birth support. This move reflects its commitment to inclusivity, flexibility, and modern family needs, providing a framework that benefits parents across various life situations.
Eternal Ltd, which operates food ordering platform Zomato and quick commerce service Blinkit, has announced a revamped parental leave policy. The new structure allows parents to take 26 weeks of leave over a period of 3 years, with the option to start leave before childbirth.
The policy covers all parents, including birthing, non-birthing, adoptive, and those welcoming children through surrogacy, irrespective of gender. This inclusivity ensures that every employee has access to the same benefits, recognising the varied paths to parenthood.
As per the report, the company developed the policy after detailed discussions with members of its parent community. Feedback highlighted that parental responsibilities and family needs extend well beyond the initial months following childbirth.
Research cited by Eternal Ltd shows that around 75% of working parents feel conflicted between professional commitments and family time during the first three years of their child’s life. The flexible approach aims to help parents manage both work and home responsibilities more effectively.
The new leave structure is part of a broader parental support framework. Benefits include day-one newborn insurance cover through the company’s group health policy, fertility and family planning assistance such as egg freezing, and support for infertility treatments.
As per news reports, Niharika Mohanty, Vice President - HR at Eternal Ltd, stated that "This new policy reflects not just our evolving understanding of modern parenthood, but also our commitment to creating an environment where every individual feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive, both at work and at home."
