Rapido Launches New Food Delivery App 'Ownly' in Bengaluru

As per news reports, Rapido has launched Ownly, a new standalone food delivery app, in select Bengaluru neighbourhoods, marking its official entry into the sector. Focusing on transparency and affordability, Ownly brings a zero-commission model for restaurants, aiming to challenge established players like Swiggy and Zomato.

Zero-Commission and Pricing Model

As per reports, Ownly is currently serving Koramangala, HSR, and BTM Layout areas, with the Android app available on Google Play. The service promises "no hidden fees" and offers "offline prices" for food, with most menu items under ₹150. Featured brands include Wow!, Eatfit, Krispy Kreme, and Faasos. 

As per Business Standard reports, According to earlier terms between Rapido and the National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), which represents more than 50,000 eateries, restaurants pay the delivery fee for orders within a 4 kilometre radius: ₹10 for orders valued at ₹100 or below (where customers pay ₹20), ₹25 plus flat GST for orders above ₹100 up to ₹400, and ₹50 for orders above ₹400.

Partner Engagement and Rollout Strategy

Rapido’s launch follows months of discussions with the NRAI on terms for restaurant participation, with the association seeking alternatives to the high commissions charged by other platforms. 

The company tested Ownly internally among employees before going public and will use its existing two-wheeler fleet to fulfil deliveries. The app’s unique pricing and commitment to no platform fees make it an appealing, budget-friendly option as Rapido gradually expands its reach.
