The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners, raising it from 55% to 58%, effective from 1 July. This increment will also apply to All India Services (AIS) officers serving in the state.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that the move would benefit thousands of employees and pensioners across Arunachal Pradesh.
“Arrears for the period from July to September will be paid in cash, and the revised DA and dearness relief (DR) will be included in October salaries and pensions,” the Chief Minister noted in a social media post. This marks the second DA/DR revision in 2025, following a 2% hike in May that raised the allowance from 53% to 55%.
The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) welcomed the decision, stating, “More than 75,000 regular state employees, pensioners, and AIS officers will benefit from this enhancement. It is expected to encourage dedicated service toward the all-round development of Arunachal Pradesh.”
Around 49 lakh employees and 69 lakh pensioners will benefit, with a fiscal impact of approximately ₹10,084 crore. Dearness Allowance serves as a cost-of-living adjustment designed to offset inflationary pressures, calculated using the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) released monthly by the Labour Bureau.
The revision aligns with the Central Government’s recent move. On 1 October, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a 3% DA hike for central government employees and pensioners, raising it to 58% of basic pay from 1 July.

The 3% Dearness Allowance hike reflects the Arunachal Pradesh government’s continued efforts to support its workforce amid rising living costs. Aligning with the central revision, the move will benefit thousands of employees and pensioners, strengthening financial stability and promoting sustained commitment toward the state’s overall development.
