India's new ride-hailing app, Bharat Taxi, is launching today. It's run by Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited and backed by the government. Union Minister Amit Shah will start it in New Delhi. The service had successful tests in New Delhi and Gujarat. It calls itself the world's biggest driver-owned network.
Bharat Taxi is a home-grown service where drivers own and run it. Drivers, called Sarathis, keep all the fare money at first, no commissions taken. Over two-thirds of drivers own cabs, and others drive autos or bike taxis. The goal is to end unfair practices by big apps.
The app has clear fares you can see upfront. It supports many languages and tracks rides live. Customer help runs 24/7. Safety steps include checking drivers and linking with Delhi Police. Ride types cover AC, premium, non-AC, and big XL cabs. It promises pickups in 2 minutes and links with metro for full trips.
Fare details:
Unlike Ola or Uber, drivers get 100% of fares now. Later, the group might take 20% but give it back as bonuses. No surge pricing most times, though prices may change in special cases. Drivers might use multiple apps. Bharat Taxi will have its own stands at airports and key spots.

More than 150 women drivers have joined. Programs like Bike Didi support them. Drivers get health insurance, accident cover, retirement savings, and help desks.
Bharat Taxi brings a fair, driver-first choice to India's ride market. With government push and unique features, it could ease driver struggles and grow fast against giants like Ola and Uber.
