Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index:
The top Sensex gainers were NTPC Ltd, Power Grid Corporation Ltd and Bharati Airtel Ltd while the top Sensex losers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd and Ultratech Cement Ltd
The indices in the broader markets were trading mixed, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.15% and the BSE Small-Cap Index down 0.52%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Indraprastha Gas Ltd and Tata Communication Ltd, while the top small-cap gainers were MOIL Ltd and SMS Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
The BSE Power Index was the top gaining among the sectoral indices, soaring 1.74% led by NTPC Ltd and Tata Power Ltd. The BSE Metals Index was the top losing sector, down 0.65% dragged down by Tata Steel Ltd and JSW Steel Ltd.
In the pre-opening session, these three stocks were trending: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Gensol Engineering Ltd and Data Patterns (India) Ltd.
