Mirae Asset Names Puneet Kumar as CEO of Venture and Private Investing Business in India

Mirae Asset Venture Investments (India) Private Limited, the private investment arm of Mirae Asset Global Investments Korea, has appointed Puneet Kumar as Chief Executive Officer of its venture capital and private investing operations.

Leadership Role and Responsibilities

In his new role, Kumar will oversee the firm’s venture investing platform, supporting companies that align with Mirae Asset’s long-term innovation and growth strategy.

Before joining Mirae Asset, Kumar served as Managing Director at Steadview Capital, a global technology-focused hedge fund with more than $3 billion in assets under management. During his six-year tenure, he invested across public and private equities, focusing primarily on India. Steadview’s private technology portfolio includes Dream11, Nykaa, Unacademy, Freshworks, Ola, Urban Company, PolicyBazaar, Zomato, Lenskart, Chargebee, Zenoti, Innovaccer, INDmoney, Atomberg, Zetwerk, and Ultrahuman.

Earlier in his career, Kumar was Vice President at Nexus Venture Partners from 2017 to 2019, where he contributed to investments in SaaS, consumer, agritech, gaming, and other emerging sectors. His work included companies such as Observe.ai, Rapido, Pando, Squadcast, Maximl, LiveHealth, and Intello Labs.

Investment Focus and Portfolio

Mirae Asset has stated its intention to expand its private investing business in India significantly in the coming years, leveraging Kumar’s expertise to drive growth and innovation in the venture capital space.

Mirae Asset invests across sectors including technology platforms, consumer businesses, artificial intelligence, and deep tech. Its notable past investments include Eternal (Zomato), Raise (Dhan), Shadowfax, and KreditBee. In India, the private investing arm currently manages over ₹1,477 crore in assets under management across two Category II Alternative Investment Funds, as of November 30, 2025. Globally, Mirae Asset’s venture capital vertical manages $4.4 billion in assets.
