Tata Motors is set to begin assembling the Range Rover Evoque at its new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant expansion of its luxury vehicle production in India, as per Bloomberg report.
The first vehicle will roll out from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.'s ₹90 billion ($994 million) Panapakkam plant in Tamil Nadu on February 9, 2026.
The facility, designed for an annual capacity of 2,50,000 vehicles, will serve as a hub for premium cars and eventually absorb more Jaguar Land Rover assembly currently handled at Tata's Pune plant.
The move centralizes JLR's Indian operations in a modern hub closer to major ports and suppliers. While initial output for the Evoque is expected to be under 10,000 units for the local market, Tata plans to leverage the site for exports in the coming years.
This expansion builds upon Tata's existing local assembly of JLR models including the Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Discovery Sport, and Jaguar F-Pace.
Tata Motors currently produces passenger vehicles at its Pune facility in Maharashtra and Sanand plant in Gujarat, with a combined annual capacity of about 9,00,000 units, which is scalable to over 1 million units.
The addition of the Tamil Nadu plant strengthens the company's position in the luxury vehicle segment.
As of February 05, 2026, at 2:02 PM, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price on NSE was trading at ₹371.55 down by 1.04% from the previous closing price.
