Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price (NSE: TMPV) fell nearly 4% on Tuesday after the company said Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) third-quarter sales were impacted by a cyber incident and higher US tariffs.
The stock slipped as much as 3.6% to ₹360, marking its biggest intraday fall since November 17, 2025. It later recovered slightly to trade around 2.4% lower, even as the broader market saw limited decline.
Over the past year, the stock has fallen 22.7%, while the Nifty 50 has gained about 10.5%. The company’s market capitalisation stands at ₹1.33 trillion.
In its exchange filing, the company said JLR’s wholesale and retail volumes declined due to a cyber incident in November. In addition, the planned phase-out of older Jaguar models and higher US tariffs on exports continued to weigh on sales.
JLR’s wholesale volumes in Q3 stood at 59,200 units, excluding its China joint venture. This marked a sharp fall of 43.3% year-on-year and 10.6% compared to the previous quarter.
Sales dropped across regions, with steep declines seen in North America, Europe, China, and overseas markets.
Retail sales for the quarter were 79,600 units, including China JV volumes. This was down 25.1% year-on-year and 6.7% quarter-on-quarter. All major regions reported lower retail volumes during the quarter.
High-end models such as Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender made up 74.3% of total wholesale volumes in Q3, though this was slightly lower than the previous quarter.
Despite weak JLR performance, Tata Motors PV reported strong growth in its own business. December 2025 sales rose 14.1% to 50,519 units. Domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 13.1%, while electric vehicle sales surged 24.2% year-on-year.
Total sales across domestic and international markets in Q3FY26 increased to 1.71 lakh units, compared to 1.40 lakh units in the same quarter last year.
While Tata Motors PV’s domestic business remains strong, short-term concerns around JLR’s global operations, cyber disruptions, and tariff pressures continue to impact investor sentiment and stock performance.
