Indian equity benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, were expected to open on a cautious note on Friday, December 26, amid subdued activity in a holiday-shortened trading week. Asian markets traded slightly higher in thin volumes, with stocks in Japan and South Korea advancing, while several regional markets remained closed for holidays.

Early signals from the GIFT Nifty, however, suggested a mildly positive start for domestic equities. The GIFT Nifty was trading near the 26,143 level, down 33 points or 0.13% from the previous close of Nifty futures, indicating a muted but stable opening for Indian markets.

IndusInd Bank

IndusInd Bank informed stock exchanges that the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has initiated a probe into alleged irregularities in the bank’s derivatives trading portfolio. The private sector lender received an official communication from the white-collar crime investigation agency on Wednesday. The SFIO action against IndusInd Bank is expected to weigh on investor sentiment and could impact the stock’s near-term performance.

Ola Electric

Ola Electric announced that it has received government approval for the release of ₹366.78 crore under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for automobiles and auto components. This inflow of incentives is seen as a positive liquidity development and is likely to draw attention from stock market participants tracking Ola Electric.

Vikran Engineering

Vikran Engineering said it has secured an EPC contract worth ₹459 crore from NTPC Renewable Energy. The order involves the development of a 400 MW AC grid-connected solar power project at Chitrakoot-1 in Uttar Pradesh. The contract is expected to strengthen Vikran Engineering’s order book and support revenue growth over the long term.

Castrol India

Castrol India is in focus after Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and US-based private equity firm Stonepeak agreed to acquire the company from parent BP. Following this, the investors will make an open offer to purchase up to a 26% stake in Castrol India. The move is expected to support capacity expansion and improve long-term revenue prospects.

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea disclosed that it has received two GST penalty orders from tax authorities in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The combined potential liability from these orders exceeds ₹83 crore. The development adds to the regulatory and financial challenges faced by Vodafone Idea and may influence investor sentiment.

Lenskart Solutions

Lenskart Solutions said its Singapore-based subsidiary has approved an investment of KRW 3 billion, or around ₹186 million. The investment will be used to acquire a 29.24% stake in South Korea-based optical machinery company iiNeer Corp. Ltd. This move is aimed at strengthening Lenskart Solutions’ manufacturing and technology capabilities.

Adani Power

Adani Power announced that it has raised its long-term installed capacity target to 41.87 gigawatts by FY32. The company also outlined a capital expenditure plan of around ₹2 lakh crore, marking one of the most ambitious expansion strategies in India’s thermal power sector. The announcement is expected to support Adani Power’s capacity growth and revenue outlook over the long run.
