The increase came from foreign portfolio investors and domestic institutions, while foreign direct investment holdings declined due to a stake sale during the quarter.

Tata AIA Life Insurance and SBI Life Insurance were among the insurers that added to their stakes during the quarter.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) shareholding fell to 25.18% in Q3 FY26 from 27.44% in Q2. The decline was mainly due to a sale of about 2% stake by Elevation Capital through a block deal in November 2025, according to disclosures.
