Hindustan Zinc share price (NSE: HINDZINC) rose more than 2% on January 6 as silver prices jumped sharply due to global geopolitical uncertainty. The rise in silver prices also pushed silver exchange-traded funds (ETFs) higher.

During early trade, Hindustan Zinc shares climbed to around ₹643.65 on the exchanges.

India’s Largest Silver Producer

Hindustan Zinc is the largest producer of silver in India and manufactures refined silver with purity of at least 99.9%. The recent surge in silver prices is expected to support the company’s stock performance.

Silver Prices Hit Near-Record Levels

International silver prices moved above $79 per ounce and are now close to record highs. On India’s commodity exchange, silver futures for March delivery rose nearly 2% to about ₹2.50 lakh per kg, while May contracts also gained around 2%.

Later-month contracts for July and September jumped over 2%, hitting fresh lifetime highs.

Silver ETFs Jump Up to 3%

Silver ETFs reflected the sharp rise in silver prices. Funds such as Mirae Asset, Aditya Birla Sun Life, and DSP Silver ETFs rose close to 3%, while several other silver ETFs gained more than 2%.
