
The Union Government has reiterated its commitment to protecting Indian farmers from international market volatility by ensuring the availability of essential fertilizers at affordable prices for the ongoing Rabi 2025-26 season. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced that the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) will remain stable at ₹1,350 per 50 kg bag.
To maintain this price stability, the government has introduced special provisions amounting to ₹3,500 per metric tonne to cover additional costs, including logistics from factory to farm gate, GST components, and a guaranteed 4% reasonable return for manufacturers. This measure ensures that fluctuations in global prices do not translate into increased costs for farmers.

The Ministry uses the integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS), a real-time online platform, to monitor the movement of all subsidised fertilisers. Coordination with the Ministry of Railways prioritises rake movement, ensuring the timely dispatch of fertiliser stocks to states.
Under the revised Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) policy, additional fertilizer grades such as 10:26:26 and 12:32:16 have been included. Subsidies are calibrated based on the exact nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potash (K) content, enabling farmers to select fertilizers tailored to their crop and soil needs.
