NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CtrlS Datacentre Limited to explore renewable energy projects of 2 gigawatts (GW) or more. The projects will be developed to supply renewable power to CtrlS Datacenters across India for their own energy use.
The MoU focuses on the development of round-the-clock renewable energy (RE RTC) power projects. The aim is to ensure a steady supply of green power to CtrlS facilities and to identify business opportunities that benefit both companies in the renewable energy sector. The agreement covers projects to be implemented across multiple states in India.
The agreement was signed on October 31, 2025, in New Delhi. It was executed by Sarit Maheshwari, CEO of NTPC Green Energy Limited and NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, and Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and Chairman of CtrlS Datacenter Limited. Both sides will work together to plan and implement the renewable energy capacity identified in the MoU.
The collaboration targets renewable energy projects with a total capacity of at least 2 GW. The power generated will be supplied directly to CtrlS Datacenters for their captive requirements. The arrangement includes the supply of renewable power on a round-the-clock basis, which involves combining various renewable sources to maintain continuous availability.
The agreement comes at a time when data centers are becoming one of the largest power consumers in the country. As operations expand, companies in the sector are seeking renewable power sources to meet growing electricity needs. For NTPC Green Energy, the project contributes to the broader goal of increasing renewable capacity under the NTPC Group.
