Mutual Funds: Average AUM Per Retail Folio Stands At ₹1.92 Lakh

AMFI data reveals steady growth in retail mutual fund participation, with average assets under management (AUM) per folio reaching ₹1.92 lakh in December 2025. 

Retail Segment Growth 

Retail investors' average AUM per folio increased to ₹1.92 lakh in December 2025, marking a 2.13% year-on-year (YoY) rise. This recovery followed a 1.57% dip to ₹1.88 lakh in 2024, attributed to temporary market consolidation.  

The 2025 growth reflects renewed confidence after a strong 14.37% surge in 2023 (₹1.91 lakh), rebounding from 2022's market-driven decline to ₹1.67 lakh. 

Industry-Wide Performance 

The mutual fund industry's average AUM per folio climbed to ₹3.07 lakh in December 2025, up 3.37% YoY from ₹2.97 lakh in 2024.  

This reversed a 3.57% decline in 2024, following robust 8.83% growth in 2023 (₹3.08 lakh). The 2022 average (₹2.83 lakh) reflected market volatility, down 9.87% from 2021's ₹3.14 lakh. 

Historical Trends 

Retail averages have shown resilience: ₹1.78 lakh (2021), ₹1.67 lakh (2022), ₹1.91 lakh (2023), ₹1.88 lakh (2024), and ₹1.92 lakh (2025). Industry-wide figures tracked similarly: ₹3.14 lakh (2021), ₹2.83 lakh (2022), ₹3.08 lakh (2023), ₹2.97 lakh (2024), and ₹3.07 lakh (2025).
