Franklin India Money Market Fund, managed by Franklin Templeton, celebrates its 24th anniversary by surpassing ₹3,800 crore in assets under management (AUM). The open-ended debt scheme focuses on short-term money market instruments.
Launched 24 years ago, Franklin India Money Market Fund is a short-term debt scheme. It invests in money market instruments such as certificates of deposit (CDs), commercial papers (CPs), Treasury bills, and sovereign bonds with maturities of less than 1 year. The primary aim is to help investors manage their short-term cash surpluses while maintaining liquidity.
The fund has outperformed its benchmark across various periods, including 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months, up to the end of January 2026. The scheme's robust performance is attributed to its investment strategy focusing on high-quality instruments and closely aligning portfolio maturity with market conditions.

According to Franklin Templeton, the fund's investment approach involves selecting high-quality money market instruments and managing portfolio maturity in accordance with liquidity conditions and interest rate trends. Notably, the fund does not charge entry or exit loads, allowing investors to transfer money without incurring transaction fees.
Money market funds are regarded as suitable for investors with short-term investment horizons of up to 1 year. They aim to offer stable returns and maintain liquidity compared to longer-duration debt funds, providing a reliable option for retail and institutional investors looking to park funds temporarily.
Franklin India Money Market Fund's achievement of crossing ₹3,800 crore AUM marks a significant milestone in its 24-year journey. By consistently providing stable returns and maintaining liquidity, it continues to be a favoured choice for managing short-term cash requirements.
