On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Indian equity markets are likely to open on a weak note as sentiment turns cautious following fresh tariff threats from US President Donald Trump over India's ongoing imports of Russian oil. Meanwhile, all eyes are on the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision, due today, with expectations that the MPC will maintain the repo rate at 5.5%.
Telecom heavyweight Bharti Airtel reported a robust Q1 FY26 performance, posting a net profit of ₹5,947.9 crore, up 43% from ₹4,159.9 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations rose by 28.5% YoY to ₹49,462.6 crore, while EBITDA surged 41.3% to ₹27,838.7 crore from ₹19,707.6 crore, reflecting strong operational momentum.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (Adani Ports & SEZ) reported a 31.2% YoY rise in consolidated revenue to ₹9,126.14 crore for Q1 FY26, compared to ₹6,956.32 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s net profit increased by 7% to ₹3,310.6 crore from ₹3,107.23 crore.
FMCG major Britannia Industries recorded a net profit of ₹520.1 crore in Q1 FY26, a 3% growth from ₹504.9 crore in Q1 FY25. Revenue from operations also saw an uptick of 8.8%, reaching ₹4,622.2 crore compared to ₹4,250.3 crore in the same quarter last year.
Pharma giant Lupin posted total sales of ₹6,163.8 crore for the June 2025 quarter, up 11.8% YoY. EBITDA rose 38% to ₹1,806 crore from ₹1,308.8 crore. Net profit surged by 51.6% to ₹1,221.5 crore compared to ₹805.5 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Torrent Power reported a decline in its Q1 FY26 performance. Profit after tax fell 26% YoY to ₹742 crore, down from ₹996 crore in the previous year. Revenue from operations dropped 12% to ₹7,906 crore compared to ₹9,034 crore in Q1 FY25.
In a significant market development, Antfin (Netherlands) Holding BV, backed by Alibaba Group, fully exited its 5.84% stake in One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, through a block deal worth ₹3,981 crore.
HG Infra Engineering, a Rajasthan-based infrastructure player, secured a Letter of Award from the Military Engineer Services (MES) for setting up an integrated material handling facility at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, reinforcing its presence in the defence infrastructure segment.
