L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) has acquired the power module design assets of Fujitsu General Electronics Ltd (FGEL), Japan, as per news reports. The deal covers research and development equipment, design patents, and intellectual property connected to power module technology.
The transfer gives LTSCT access to Fujitsu’s patents and specialised R&D tools in the power electronics domain. LTSCT will use these assets to expand its semiconductor design activities across different business areas.
"The acquisition of power module technology is a crucial step in LTSCT's growth journey and an important step towards our vision of enhancing India's presence in the global semiconductor ecosystem. This significantly strengthens our global intellectual property portfolio and enhances our design capabilities, thus reinforcing our commitment to delivering world-class semiconductor solutions globally," LTSCT chief executive Sandeep Kumar said, as per news reports.
"We are pleased to see our power module business become a part of LTSCT -- a leading semiconductor company from India that shares our commitment to innovation and technological excellence. We are sure that this transfer will ensure the continued development and expansion of cutting-edge power module technologies, benefiting global customers and driving industry-wide advancements," FGEL Director and COO Tadashi Hasegawa said, as per news reports.
Power modules are widely used in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and industrial equipment. With this acquisition, LTSCT plans to build new capabilities in these sectors by integrating Fujitsu’s designs and intellectual property.

The acquisition of Fujitsu’s power module design assets provides L&T Semiconductor with patents and equipment that add to its existing operations. This is part of a push within India to grow domestic semiconductor capabilities and participate in international markets.
