The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced the inclusion of Force Motors Limited and Godfrey Phillips India Limited in its Futures & Options (F&O) segment, starting from April 1, 2026.

This development provides traders with new opportunities for hedging and speculation in the automobiles and tobacco industries.

Details of F&O Inclusion

From April 1, 2026, traders will be able to engage in F&O contracts with Force Motors and Godfrey Phillips. The NSE has indicated that detailed information regarding market lot sizes and strike prices will be shared through an official circular on March 30, 2026. Additionally, quantity freeze limits will also be covered in this announcement.

This move aligns with the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) criteria, established in August 2024, for stock selection in the derivatives market.

The addition of these stocks is expected to enhance market dynamics and offer more diverse investment tools in the Indian stock market.

SEBI's Selection Criteria

Under SEBI’s guidelines, stocks eligible for F&O inclusion must rank among the top 500 by average market capitalisation and trading value over the previous 6 months.

Further criteria include a median quarter-sigma order size of at least ₹75 lakh and a market-wide position limit of ₹1,500 crore, calculated as 20% of free-float shares.

Conclusion

The induction of Force Motors and Godfrey Phillips into the NSE's F&O segment is a strategic enhancement that complements the market's growing range of hedge and speculative options. This move is in line with SEBI's selection norms and reflects a broader aim for a robust derivatives market in India.
