As per the news reports, Global brewing major Carlsberg Group has unveiled a major investment plan for India, pledging ₹1,250 crore to strengthen its presence in the country’s food processing sector.
The announcement was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) during the World Food India 2025 event, held in New Delhi between 25–28 September.
As part of its expansion roadmap, Carlsberg India will channel ₹500 crore into building a new greenfield facility at Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, while allocating ₹400 crore for a brownfield expansion in Hooghly, West Bengal. A further ₹350 crore has been earmarked for brownfield expansion in Mysuru, Karnataka.
These investments will not only increase operational capacity but also generate employment and stimulate activity for suppliers, customers, and associated service providers.
Over the next three years, Carlsberg India anticipates incremental procurement of nearly ₹600 crore in raw and packaging materials. This will directly benefit domestic industries, including malt production, glass, cans, cardboard, and logistics.
As per the news reports, Nilesh Patel, Managing Director of Carlsberg India, stated: “India is a priority growth market for Carlsberg Group. Our investments in Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Karnataka underline our long-term commitment to India's future. These projects will expand our operational capacity, create meaningful employment, and generate excise revenues for the states.”
