Qatar has announced additional financial and policy measures to support startups, coinciding with the sharp rise in participation at Web Summit Qatar 2026.

The announcements were made during the event, which recorded a significant increase in attendance compared to previous editions.

Qatar Expands Fund of Funds Programme

Qatar’s Prime Minister stated that the Qatar Investment Authority is expanding its Fund of Funds programme with an additional $2 billion. This comes on top of an earlier commitment of $1 billion under the same initiative.

According to the announcement, the programme has already attracted 12 venture capital firms that have established a presence in Doha. The initiative is designed to support capital deployment into startup ecosystems operating in and from Qatar.

Residency and Operational Support for Founders

Alongside funding measures, Qatar announced a 10 year residency programme targeted at entrepreneurs, founders, and senior executives. The programme aims to support long term participation in the local startup ecosystem.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that company formation, banking access, and residency processes can be completed within a short time frame. Additional support includes access to high performance compute credits for startups based in Qatar.
