The Rajasthan government has signed around 1,600 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening the tourism sector, as per the news reports. These agreements collectively represent an investment of ₹1.37 trillion, covering a range of tourism-related projects such as hotels, resorts, heritage properties, wellness centres, and eco-tourism ventures.

Projects and Progress So Far

Out of the total MoUs, 29 projects are currently operational, while 213 have reached the groundbreaking stage. These 242 projects account for ₹28,200 crore in investment and are expected to create around 13,500 jobs. In total, the signed MoUs are projected to generate 1.9 lakh employment opportunities across Rajasthan.

Review Mechanism and Department Roles

The state government has introduced a multi-level monitoring system to oversee implementation. Tourism projects are reviewed monthly by the Chief Minister, every 15 days by the Chief Secretary, and weekly by senior officials. District-level responsibilities have also been assigned to ensure local follow-ups and progress tracking.

Rising Rajasthan to Boost Tourism Sector

A session titled “Rising Rajasthan – Tourism Sector MoUs: Accelerating Groundbreaking Investments” was held on Wednesday to address key implementation issues. It included participation from Tourism, Urban Development, Revenue, and Local Self Government Departments, along with MoU holders and representatives from the Tourism Finance Corporation of India (TFCI).

Clearances, Land, and Policy Updates

The discussion focused on pending matters such as land allotment, land use conversion, and building approvals. Officials were asked to expedite the RTUP-2024 notification and introduce a new land policy to ease project rollouts.

Local-level MoU review meetings have also been mandated across districts.

Additional Policy Measures

The Tourism Department is drafting two new policies, one for film tourism promotion and another for integrated tourism development. These are expected to focus on infrastructure and destination-level planning. An overview of the Tourism Unit Policy 2024 was also presented during the meeting.
