The Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) till August 15, 2025, as per the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Anganwadi and ASHA workers have been mobilised to visit households and register eligible pregnant and lactating women.
PMMVY offers financial assistance to women as partial wage compensation. For the first child, ₹5,000 is given in 2 instalments. For the second girl child, ₹6,000 is provided in one instalment after birth. The funds are directly transferred to Aadhaar-linked bank or post office accounts.
Since its launch, over 4.05 crore women have received at least one instalment under the scheme. The total disbursal so far stands at ₹19,028 crore. Payments have been made through the Direct Benefit Transfer mode.
In March 2023, the ministry launched a digital platform called PMMVYSoft. It uses Aadhaar-based verification and NPCI checks to ensure the accuracy of beneficiary details. It is now used for registration, verification, and payments.
The platform includes a multilingual toll-free helpline (14408) and a grievance redressal module. It also features an automated due list and facial recognition-based authentication to help track and verify beneficiaries more efficiently.

The campaign is being implemented at the ground level by Anganwadi and ASHA workers. Their role includes identifying women who haven’t registered, helping them complete documentation, and uploading information to the system. PMMVY is part of the Samarthya sub-scheme under Mission Shakti. It is centrally sponsored and implemented with support from state governments and local officials.
The registration drive will continue till August 15, 2025, with a focus on identifying and enrolling all eligible women. The ministry has said that coordination with state and local teams will continue through the duration of the drive.
