Apple’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem in India has reached a significant milestone, with its local suppliers reportedly crossing the 20% domestic value addition (DVA) mark across iPhone models. This development highlights India’s increasing importance in Apple’s global operations, both as a major production hub and a strategic export base. With rising exports, new sourcing partnerships, and expanded after-sales services, India is fast emerging as a key player in the tech giant’s global supply chain.
India’s iPhone suppliers, including key contract manufacturers like Foxconn, Tata Electronics, Dixon, Pegatron and Wistron (now acquired by Tata), have reportedly surpassed the 20% domestic value addition (DVA) benchmark across iPhone variants. As per Business Standard reports citing official government documents, this milestone aligns with Apple’s sharp 76% year-on-year increase in iPhone exports from India in FY25, amounting to ₹1.50 Lakh Crore in free on board (FOB) value.
Additionally, it is reported that Taiwanese major Foxconn alone exported iPhones worth $3.2 billion from India, with an impressive 97% of the devices shipped to the United States, significantly up from the average 50.3% recorded in 2024. The DVA achievement reflects the growing depth of Apple’s manufacturing ecosystem in India and its efforts to reduce dependence on China.
Alongside its manufacturing efforts, Apple has initiated discussions with Murugappa Group and Titan to locally source camera modules for its iPhones, signalling deeper integration of Indian companies in its component supply chain. In parallel, Apple is in talks with Dixon Technologies to expand its iPhone assembly line further in India.
Moreover, Apple has reportedly partnered with Tata Group to manage its iPhone and MacBook after-sales repairs in India. As per Business Standard reports, Tata is set to take over these operations from Wistron’s Indian subsidiary, ICT Service Management Solutions. This shift marks another step in Apple’s increasing localisation efforts and highlights India’s rising importance in the company’s global servicing strategy.
