Amidst the struggle of main indices to gather momentum, a significant selloff was observed particularly in small-cap stocks, as evidenced by the BSE Smallcap Index tumbling over 0.60% today. At 10:10 am, the BSE Sensex added 0.11%, reaching a level of 73,884. The Nifty 50 index edged up by 0.10% to the 22,402 level. On the Sensex, NTPC Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers, whereas JSW Steel, Tata Steel and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  • Indian Energy Exchange Ltd

The Indian Energy Exchange Ltd witnessed a fourfold surge in trading volume, propelling its shares to climb over 4% to reach an intraday high of Rs 158.30 per share on the BSE. The company offers an automated platform and infrastructure facilitating the trading of electricity units for physical delivery. Through its exchange platform, it fosters efficient price discovery, enhances accessibility and transparency in India’s power market, and bolsters the speed and efficiency of trade execution.

  • ICICI Securities Ltd

During an otherwise lacklustre opening trading session, ICICI Securities Ltd witnessed a notable surge in trading volume of around fourfold, driving positive momentum for its shares. The company is involved in various financial activities including broking (both institutional and retail), distribution of financial products, merchant banking, and advisory services.

  • Sanghvi Movers Ltd

Sanghvi Movers Ltd witnessed a significant increase in trading volume, but this surge was met with intense selling pressure, resulting in a sharp decline of over 11% to hit an intraday low of Rs 1,033.85 per share on the BSE. The company operates in the infrastructure sector, primarily providing hydraulic and crawler cranes to various industries. It boasts a fleet comprising medium to large-size hydraulic truck-mounted telescopic and lattice boom cranes, along with crawler cranes.
