Share Market Pre Open Updates – February 19, 2024

On February 16, 2024, the Nifty 50 and Sensex saw gains, increasing by 0.59% and 0.52% to close at 22,040 and 72,426, respectively. Both Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) showed buying activity worth ₹253 crore and ₹1,571 crore, respectively.

Top Gainers and Losers

The Nifty Auto, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Realty and Nifty IT sectors experienced gains in the sectoral landscape. Conversely, the Nifty Oil & Gas and Nifty PSU Bank saw declines. The top gainers were Wipro, SBI Life Insurance, Mahindra & Mahindra and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, while the top losers included Powergrid Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Life Insurance Corporation and United Spirits.

• Tata Motors has launched multipurpose heavy-duty trucks in South Africa, which resulted in the rise of the company’s share price by 2% to ₹938.
• On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra has signed an agreement to use Volkswagen’s components in its EVs, resulting in its share price increase by 4%, closing at ₹1,838.
