Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index:
The top Sensex gainers were Tata Motors Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and State Bank of India while the top Sensex losers were Infosys Ltd, HCL Technologies Ltd and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading mixed, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.19% and the BSE Small-Cap Index down 0.13%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Indraprastha Gas Ltd and Tata Communication Ltd, while the top small-cap gainers were HLV Ltd and Valiant Organics Ltd.
The BSE Auto Index was the top gaining among the sectoral indices, soaring 1.72% led by Tata Motors Ltd and Balkrishna Industries Ltd. The BSE Information Technology Index was the top losing sector, down 0.95% dragged down by Zensar Technologies Ltd and KPIT Technologies Ltd.
