On Wednesday, the benchmark indices traded flat, with the Sensex advancing by around 16 points, or 0.03%, reaching 64,612, and the Nifty-50 declining around 14 points, or 0.08%, to 19,300. On the BSE, 1,845 shares advanced, 1,146 declined, and 133 remained unchanged.
Top Sensex gainers: Tata Steel Ltd, JSW Steel Ltd, and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Top Sensex losers: Bharti Airtel Ltd, NTPC Ltd, and Infosys Ltd.
In the broader markets, the BSE Mid-cap index was up 0.45%, and the BSE Small-cap index was up 0.60%. The top mid-cap gainers were Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank, while the top small-cap gainers were KDDL Ltd and Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.
The BSE Metals Index was the top gainer among the sectorial indices, surging by 1.75%, led by Jindal Steel Industries Ltd and Tata Steel Ltd. In contrast, the BSE Teck Index was down 0.11%, dragged down by Tanla Platforms Ltd and Infosys Ltd.
In the pre-opening session, the following three stocks were trending: Transport Corporation of India, NIIT Ltd, and Gensol Engineering Ltd.
