On Wednesday, Indian equity markets saw a modest rise. The Nifty 50 closed 34 points (0.14%) higher at 24,855, and the Sensex gained 144 points (0.18%) to end at 81,482.
However, early cues indicate a weak opening for Thursday’s session as investor sentiment has been dampened by the US decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian goods. This geopolitical development could weigh on domestic equities.
Here are the top stocks to watch in today’s session:
Avenue Supermarts share price (NSE: DMART) may rise as the company plans to open 50 new DMart stores this financial year, primarily targeting northern India. The move comes amid rising competition from online and offline retailers.
Tata Steel share price (NSE: TATASTEEL) may trade positively after reporting a 116% YoY increase in net profit at ₹2,078 crore in Q1FY26, despite subdued European operations. Revenue remained flat at ₹53,178 crore, with the India segment contributing ₹31,014 crore.
Mahindra & Mahindra share price (NSE: M&M) is in focus after announcing a 24.4% YoY increase in net profit to ₹4,083 crore for the fourth quarter. Revenue rose to ₹45,436 crore, a 22.8% jump YoY, with healthy EBITDA at ₹4,736 crore.
Tata Motors share price (NSE: TATAMOTORS) may react positively after announcing a €3.8 billion ($4.4 billion) all-cash acquisition of Italy’s Iveco Group. This strategic deal positions Tata as one of the world’s top CV makers.
InterGlobe Aviation share price (NSE: INDIGO) may face selling pressure after Q1FY26 profit dropped 20% YoY to ₹2,176 crore. Sequentially, profits slipped 29%. While revenue rose 4.7% YoY, margin pressures remain a concern.
Hyundai Motor share price will be in focus since the company has reported a net profit of ₹1,369 crore in Q1, down 8% YoY. Revenue also declined 5.4% to ₹16,413 crore, indicating a slowdown in the automotive sector.
Aurobindo Pharma share price (NSE: AUROPHARMA) may gain attention after its US subsidiary agreed to acquire Lannett Company LLC for $250 million. The acquisition enhances Aurobindo’s presence in the US generics market.
Welspun Living shares (NSE: WELSPUNLIV) may come under pressure after Q1 net profit dropped 52% YoY to ₹89 crore. Revenue also declined 11% to ₹2,261 crore.
IIFL Finance share price (NSE: IIFL) may fall after the company posted a 19% YoY decline in net profit to ₹233 crore. However, the company has also seen a 12.7% growth in operational revenue.
Sonata Software share price (NSE: SONATSOFTW) may move higher after the company posted a 7.4% YoY rise in net profit at ₹113 crore and a 17.3% increase in revenue to ₹2,965 crore.
Hitachi Energy share price (NSE: POWERINDIA) will come in focus in today’s session. The company has reported a 1,163% YoY surge in net profit to ₹132 crore, driven by strong execution, high-margin orders, and export-led growth.
Today’s trading session may reflect caution amid global trade tensions. However, investors should watch for company-specific triggers such as new earnings to spot opportunities. Stocks like Tata Steel, Navin Fluorine, Tata Motors, and Hitachi Energy stand out for their strong Q1FY26 performance.
