SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), the renewable energy arm of SJVN Ltd, has achieved a significant milestone with the commercial launch of an additional 100.02 MW of electricity from its solar plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This development, effective from 30 June 2025, pushes the operational capacity of the ambitious 1,000 MW project to 501.02 MW, marking the halfway point in the plant's full commissioning.
The solar power plant at Bikaner is being commissioned in phases. With this latest addition now live and commercially supplying electricity to the grid, SJVN has officially achieved the commercial operation date (COD) for just over 500 MW of the project. The remaining capacity is expected to come online soon, according to the company’s official update to the stock exchanges.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, SGEL is spearheading the company’s expansion into solar power generation. The Bikaner project plays a key role in India's broader clean energy transition goals. Once fully operational, it will significantly enhance renewable power availability in the region, contributing to national sustainability and energy security targets.
