The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, has launched Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima, an optional health insurance scheme aimed at enhancing medical coverage for beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima will be available shortly as a retail product for CGHS beneficiaries through the offices and online platform of New India Assurance Company Limited.
The scheme has been designed to supplement existing CGHS facilities by providing additional financial protection. It offers cashless treatment, coverage for modern medical procedures, and access to a wide network of hospitals across India. The policy is exclusively available to CGHS beneficiaries and provides coverage for up to six family members under a single policy.
Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima offers indemnity-based in-patient hospitalisation coverage within India. Beneficiaries may choose between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh as the sum insured. To accommodate different premium preferences, the policy provides co-payment options of 70:30 or 50:50 between the insurer and the subscriber.
Room rent is capped at 1% of the sum insured per day for normal rooms and 2% per day for ICU stays. The policy covers 30 days of pre-hospitalisation and 60 days of post-hospitalisation expenses. In-patient AYUSH treatments are fully covered up to 100% of the sum insured.

Modern medical procedures are covered up to 25% of the sum insured, with an optional rider available to enhance coverage up to 100%. The policy also offers a cumulative bonus of 10% for each claim-free year, subject to a maximum of 100% of the sum insured, thereby increasing coverage over time.
Compared to standard health insurance policies, Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima is offered at a 28% discounted premium under the 70:30 co-payment option and a 42% discount under the 50:50 option. The policy is exempt from GST, ensuring further affordability.
